"Can
I say, again, how DAMN good that Darth Vader drawing I got from
you is?
Best money I've spent since I bought my girlfriend underwear!"
-
Matt Z, regarding a piece he picked up from Dave.
It's
November already? Time flies when you're havin' fun! So, Mike
D! ("That's me!") Come
on and get some!
NEW
ART GALORE
Believe
it or not, Dave and Debbie aren't just coast-to-coast jetsetters.
They're also illustrators, busy making mounds of art each and
every day. Take a puddle-jumper on over to PORTRAITS
and have a quick taste of the new Holly Golightly and Debbie
Harry images that are there. Then, catch a red-eye down to the
Tropic of DRAWINGS
for a whopping 15 new commissioned pieces from
the captain and copilot of your nonstop airbus to the artsy
skies.
NEW "HELP US MOVE" SALE ANNOUNCED
The second of our Zany "Help Us
Move" Sales has just been announced. This time up, we're
moving posters like a pimp moves ass! Plus, there's a free drawing
involved (of course) with every purchase. Hit MERCHANDISE
for the nitty gritty on
these things, cause we're gonna ship 'em out a whole new door!
TLC
EMAIL, NO MO'
For those
who have followed Debbie's exploits as a staff writer/section
editor on "tastes like chicken", just thought you
should know that he has officially stepped down from that position.
With his workload popping steroids like they're skittles, and
the impending move to LA, The Debster thought it would be best
to walk away and let someone else take the helm. While he'll
still be contributing a monthly Slop comic, Debbie will no longer
be writing reviews or stories for TLC. Likewise, he'll no longer
be using the "[email protected]" email account.
Anyone interested in contacting him should use his "[email protected]"
address from here on out.
Ooo, speaking of tastes
like chicken,
the November online issue launches this Thursday, November 4th.
It'll feature a brand new Slop by your favorite New Kid, along
with jokes and yolks, skewed reviews, and interviews with Mix-Master
Mike and more!
MODA
3 + RIDE SNOWBOARDS + CROSLAND =
AN AMAZING
NIGHT OF LIVE ART AND DEBAUCHERY!!! Gallery Night in Milwaukee
this October was great for a few reasons. One of the main ones
was the Moda
3
show opening
that Dave Crosland rocked live art at. Check out Ride
Snowboards' website
for a gnarly press release and photos of the evening
in all it's drunken loveliness. Then hop over to OnMilwaukee.com
for a quick blurb on the night,
along with a choice photo of Crosland, the international swimsuit
model that he is.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN...
Of course,
Debbie and Dave are Los Angelino-bound, yet again. They'll still
be taking orders, like the dog soldiers that they are. So between
November 1st and November 19th, we'll be taking all mail orders
at the alternate LA address listed on the MERCHANDISE
page.
GOD,
ARE WE A COUPLE OF TEASES OR WHAT?
Lastly,
we're happy to pseudo-announce that we've got some real treats
planned for you guys in 2005. First off, Debbie and Dave are
working together on their first international comic release,
which is due out sometime in spring. Then, Dave is cooking up
some graphic novel soul food on the sly, for early summer. And
that's not even half of the schemes the Hiredmeat Team has in
store for the world once the new year hits! Stay tuned and we're
bound to tell you more in the months to come.
Until next time, keep your friends close, your enemies
closer, and your enemies' friends on your lap.
Like
sands in the hour glass,
-Debbie and Dave
Hiredmeat is your passion for life.
p.s. -
I'm sure you've heard this a billion times already, but seriously...
GO VOTE!
CROSLAND
DOES "THE SIMS"!
The
Nobel Prize winning video game, "The Sims", has
expanded its universe to the brand new "The Urbz: Sims
In The City". And the people behind the game are using
web-comics by indie creators to promote it's launch.
to see the new strip by our very own Dave Crosland. Then check
back weekly for comics from some righteous dudes, including
Jim Mahfood, Chynna Clugston, Evan Dorkin, Steve Rolston,
R. Stevens, Jay Stephens, Peter Bagge, and James Kochalka.
***And for an added treat, click the image on the right to
see Dave's original, pop-artsy coloring concept for the strip!*** |
